Two families, one tree

From Westmeath, Fermanagh, Swansea and the moors near Bremen to the East Side of Manhattan; and from the plantations of Amelia County, Burke County and Clarendon District through emancipation to Richmond, Sumter and New York. Every person here is backed by a record you can open.

      Under slavery

Enslaved people were recorded by first name only, in the wills, inventories, deeds and court papers of the families who held them. Everything above is quoted as the documents give it; “confirmed” means the document names our ancestor beyond reasonable doubt, “probable” that it fits on age, place and family, “possible” that it is a lead only.
